  When grandma needs a website...

  I just whipped up this simple portfolio gallery site as a calling card for Grandma Mary’s art. We needed to start simple, and make it very easy to update. So we picked Wordpress, of course.

  Since Grandma already uses picasa at home, we used the great kPicasa Gallery plug in,so she can arrange her artwork in her online Picasa galleries, and then have those same galleries automatically show up in her website. Now it will be super easy for her to show off her new artwork.

  The Wildflower Theme is modified with the image of her studio in the background (and some other tweaks).

  Portfolio: Better.. Faster.. Stronger..

  A couple of changes to the portfolio page for the better:

  • I added a lightbox effect in the portfolio section - so you don’t have to download that big, honking PDF to get a closer look. Instead just click on an image to bring up a gallery of images in it’s own AJAX-y popup. Much nicer!
  • And.. More recent work in the portfolio section –Brokers Gin packaging, an OHSU Ad and brochure, The Allison Inn & Spa website, Oregon Humane Society banners and Rural Organizing Project’s ballot initiative guide. Dang!!
  • And.. I’m sure everyone’s favorite, the portfolio page is just called ‘Portfolio’ instead of ‘PDF Portfolio’ to reflect this new web-goodness. The old links redirect, no 404 error here!

  OHSU Doernbecher Landing Page

  I used the Lightbox2 Ajax effect to create this very simple but effective landing page for OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. When a visitor arrives for the first time, they will be greeted by this unobtrusive effect that simplifies the choices for first time visitors.

  This is another website I finished recently. This involved upgrading a wordpress site, and converting it’s theme to Lindquist, and modifying it for use as a copywriter’s portfolio website.

  OHSU Ad

  In this ad for OHSU we choose selects of thousands of photos of employees taken at a photo booth at OHSU children’s hospital. It was a fun but late night placing the hundreds of images in InDesign..

  This ran in Portland Monthly and Portland Spaces magazine.

  I’ll be posting new items to the portfolio of recent past work for the next couple days.

  Here’s the first piece, which was for an Inn & Spa in the heart of the Oregon wine country in the Wilamatte Valley. This was an interm website that was done to give the public a look at the progress of construction, news, and show off the luxurious look and feel through the use of an easy to use Flash image viewer right on the front page.

  Well, lots has changed since last time I checked in here. I got a real job at a fantastic ad agency working with wonderful creatives doing great work for great local Oregon clients. More on that later…

  But I just wanted to post an image of a piece that I know I’m going to be proud of - a ballot initiative guide for the diligent folks at ROP (Rural Organizing Project). 65,000 of these are going to go out to households in rural Oregon..
