Oh drat. Looks like the version of Wordpress I have installed has become incompatible with the version of Gallery2 (which is where the photo gallery is). Gonna have to find some time to work on that, but it doesn’t look too bright as the developer who maintains the WPG2 plugin seems to have given up :(
UPDATE: Fixed. It was something simple, but had to dig around to find it, of course.

I am obsessed with the Portland over-the-air broadcast channel KORS 16.2 otherwise known as Bohemia Visual Music Television. It repeats the exact same 80’s to mid 90’s programming everyday, sometimes with commercials for defunct products/services. An absolutely terrible website that doesn’t give you any information about the actual TV channel. I love it. So many questions about what is making this possible, who is behind it, and, uh, why? And how do I get my own HDTV channel?

Shadowbox Tutorial

Here’s a tutorial I wrote up on installing a lighbox effect called Shadowbox in a text file that I’ll be using for Pacific Northwest College of Art’s Web Design class (CD 350) this afternoon:
They are exploring lots of different techniques in order to build their own portfolio sites.
I hope to get this up as a real tutorial soon (not just a TXT file), and give credit where credit is due (the example HTML, Shadowbox, and the Barcelona videos).

When grandma needs a website...

I just whipped up this simple portfolio gallery site as a calling card for Grandma Mary’s art. We needed to start simple, and make it very easy to update. So we picked Wordpress, of course.
Since Grandma already uses picasa at home, we used the great kPicasa Gallery plug in,so she can arrange her artwork in her online Picasa galleries, and then have those same galleries automatically show up in her website. Now it will be super easy for her to show off her new artwork.
The Wildflower Theme is modified with the image of her studio in the background (and some other tweaks).

I’m in the process of installing a new theme, called ‘P2′.
It looks great, but there seems to be an issue with posts repeating themselves, so if you see duplicates of the same post, I’m aware of it, and working to resolve it..
RESOLVED: it was the ‘Advanced Category Excluder” plugin that was messin’ with it.
