My clients Taggart and Jon at Collective Eye just finished the trailer for their documentary film on the state of the honeybees (usually qualified in the none too cheerful term of ‘honeybee collapse disorder’), titled Queen of the Sun. It’s really stunningly beautiful, and will hopefully educate people as far as the solution to this problem. Look for it this spring and summer playing in theaters! New Site – Queen of the sun
I recently completed a website for Taggart Siegel’s “Queen of the Sun” – an entertaining documentary film that looks into the current state of honeybee and the “hive collapse disorder” that is occurring. As a film it seeks to educate us about our intertwined fate with the honeybees, and do something about it.
It was very important to get social networking features, so the producers of the film could easily post an item to the blog, and have options for this post to automatically be posted to facebook and twitter. Small indy filmmakers need to wear many hats, but let’s face it, taking on creating buzz via social media and traditional PR if often something that is overlooked, so making it easy was definitely a priority.
The site is set up so the filmmakers can easily catalogue the film’s experts, and continually add to the site easily via the blogging feature . It practically designed itself with the big beautiful images supplied by the Taggart and his team, and I’m really happy how it turned out.
I will post more on the tools we used to create this site (WordPress, the Big Picture theme by vfxdude and the great jQuery scripts built in to the theme and various plug-ins, and e-commerce features) in the future.. check back!
